THE LION IS BACK

...and hungry for more

DINO 'The Lion' BAGATTIN

I am the former EFC Worldwide Welterweight Champion

I have been fighting for over ten years. It's blood, sweat and tears for me every day. I want to be the best at what I do. I LOVE the challenge, I LOVE the supporters and I LOVE the game. Fighting is something that is built inside of me, it is something that I was born to do.

I train everyday with some of the best athletes on the continent at the FFM gym. At FFM we have a gym full of champions, friends and family. We help each other out, we train each other. So it is not just about me, its about my team, its about my family, its about my fans, its about my sponsors. Without them, none of this would even be possible...I wouldn't be following my dream.

My goal is to carry on fighting as long as I can to perfect, to advance my skills and learn more so that one day when I retire from the hexagon, I will still be on that mat passing on my knowledge.

I am passionate about my training and training others. In the last couple months I have opened up my own gym in Edenvale and it has become a new venture for me. It has given me a the chance to train and teach others, to guide them and to get them fit, to show them how to better themselves and in return build their confidence.

One day I will be coaching, BUT right now…I am THE LION and I'm hungry for more! Put me in that cage and I will show you what I can do.

My Professional Fighting History

I have always been a big fan of K1, PRIDE FC and UFC and this sparked my enthuisiasm for the brutal art of Muay Thai. I began training under Kru David Verdi in a small gym in the east end of London, I fell in love with the discipline and respect of the sport and not being one to do things half-heartedly I soon began fighting on the amateur circuits. After winning my first amateur title I turned pro and went on to be undefeated in 10 fights, winning two titles in the process (ISKA British and ISKA Commonwealth).

I returned home to South Africa and still wanting to pursue this passion I had for combat sports I was introduced to the Men Of War MMA team under Walter Wendt. Being new to MMA I had no understanding of the art of brazilian jiu-jitsu and it turned my focus into working towards mastering this game of chess. Although my ground game was a working progress I had enough confidence in my stand-up ability to see me through most Pro Bouts on the Fight Force cards for two years.

I was then approached by the EFC Africa promoter Greame Cartmell and was fortunate enough to get myself on the EFC 1 bill; since then I have been one of their prize fighters who always brings fans and entertainment on the night.

I then had the opportunity to train with Smiths Gym, under Peter "Sniper" Smith who spent a decade in top boxing gyms in the US and had fought numerous professional fights in Vegas, he is my manager at Sniper Management and also my mentor. Peter has brought a whole new dimension to my stand-up arsenal and I have become a better fighter since joining his team which consists of numerous SA Champions.

I am a top ranked Welterweight fighter, I am a champion. My goal is to defend my title against numerous opposition including international fighters and gain the opportunity to compete overseas, with the interest in the SA scene growing by international organisations, all of this is achievable.

My love for this testing sport continues to grow and I'm grateful I am able to follow my passion full-time through the belief of my family, fans and sponsors. After a long successful career as a fighter I hope to open my own gym, passing on all I have learnt to those that have the same enthusiasm that I have for Mixed Martial Arts.

EFC Africa 28…can’t WAIT!

So Im finally Head Lining my First EFC Africa Show on 1st May. Ill be facing Henry ‘Hurculeez’ Fadipe. He is a well rounded athlete and im sure he is bringing his very best for this one. As champion i want to fight the best.

Ok! thats enough smoke up his ass!

Reality is we going to put on one hell of a show. We both gonna be pumped up and its the makings of a cracker fight. There has been a bit of banter between us and he seems quite a character. None the less we gonna knock the snot out of each other come May 1st.

South African MMA has been in the Media for the wrong reasons of late and I think its up to everyone Involved to change that. If fighters safety is a concern, then the correct measures need to be put in place. Fighters also have their part to play in arriving to Weigh In fit and able to compete. After all We are the Prize Fighter.

Fans are guaranteed to get their moneys worth on May 1st. The Lion vs Hurculeez is going to put South African MMA on the map. My camp is all on track for this one, we bringing a whole new Lion. Stronger, Fitter, Faster…… And still WW Champion!
